Ability and Wellness

To provide a safe space for members who self-identify as needing ability and wellness support or accommodations to be able to actively engage in their union.  To provide support to members who may face discrimination in their workplaces and/or union.

1 Voting Delegate from the Executive - Members at Large

Annual Meeting of the Provincial Assembly (AMPA)

his is the annual meeting of the OSSTF Provincial Body with delegates from every District and Bargaining Unit in OSSTF.Has the authority to amend the Constitution and Bylaws of OSSTF Provincial Approves the OSSTF Budget In odd numbered years AMPA elects the OSSTF Executive

Annual General Meeting District 20 TBU (AGM)

Has the authority to amend the Constitution, Bylaws, Policy and Procedures according to the provisions of the Constitution and Bylaws.
Approves the TBU Budget.

Anti-Harassment Appeals

Hears appeals from members affected by a decision resulting from a complaint under the District’s Anti-Harassment and Anti-Bullying Policy.

  • Staff Officer - Member Protection, non-voting

Benevolent Support / Emergency Funds

This committee must maintain confidentiality.  Helps members who are in need financially.

Collective Bargaining

The committee is only for the current round of negotiations.Conducts negotiations in the best interest of the membership.

To be responsible for the newsletter and website.

Constitution, Bylaws, and Procedures

The committee looks at and examines the TBU Constitution, Bylaws, and Procedures.  Will make recommendations to Executive and Council. May make recommendations for Motion to go to AMPA from TBU.
The Chair will bring motions to the TBU AGM.

Equity and Wellness Representatives

To give school-based safety representatives an opportunity to meet.  To keep the membership informed on issues relating to Equity & Wellness.


To recommend Equity & Wellness issues to be brought to the Joint Equity & Wellness Committee.

All TBU Safety Representatives on school or site based committees;
President, or their designate.

Finance

To prepare a budget for submission to the TBU Executive and TBU Council for their consideration prior to the TBU Annual General Meeting. To assist the TBU treasurer in periodically reviewing TBU and District finances. To make recommendations with respect to financial policy procedures and Investments.

Grievance

To assist in the process of a policy grievance by reviewing the circumstances of the Grievances making recommendations to the executive.

Health and Safety Representatives

To develop selection criteria for approval by TBU Council at its November meeting. 
To organize and give a seminar to prospective applicants for the position of Staff Officer in December.  To interview candidates in January. To recommend to TBU Council by February, one candidate for appointment to the position of TBU Staff Officer.

Indigenous, Black, and Racialized Voices (IBRV)

To provide a safe space for Indigenous, Black and Racialized members to organize and actively engage in their union.  To provide support to Indigenous, Black and Racialized members who face racism in their workplaces and/or union.  To raise the profile of Indigenous, Black and Racialized members in the district.  To provide an informed voice for Indigenous, Black and Racialized members in the decision making processes of the union.

Unlimited voting members who identify as Indigenous, Black and/or Racialized.

LTD Assistance

Works with members who need financial assistance related to Long Term Disability.

Political Action

To establish and maintain liaison with other affiliates.  To maintain constant observations of the proceedings of the Halton District School Board.  To advise on matters concerning political activities for candidates for local provincial and federal office.

Professional Development / Educational Services

To draft policy with respect to funding and program for implementation at the District and school level.  To carry out policy in the promotion and implementation of professional development in the schools.  To be responsible for the planning and implementation of a regional professional development day.  Funding for professional development activities for members.

Rights and Equity

Networking with other committees in other districts and at the provincial level. 
Making recommendations regarding collective bargaining issues.  Monitoring relevant board policies.  Promoting employment and promotion equity.

Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGIC)

To provide a safe space for LGBTQ2S+-identified members to organize and actively engage in their union.To provide support to LGBTQ2S+-identified members who face discrimination in their workplaces and/or union. To raise the profile of LGBTQ2S+-identified members in the district.  To provide an informed voice for LGBTQ2S+-identified members in the decision making processes of the union.

Unlimited members who identify as lesbian, bi, gay, trans, queer, non-binary and two-spirit.

Staffing

Scrutinize the Staffing of schools during Staffing allocations throughout the year.

Staffing Advisory

A Board Committee that discusses and maps the Critical Path.  Works through staffing issues, reviews school staffing allocations.
